Tiana’s Outdoor Maternity Session

I loved capturing this session for Tiana and her husband. Tiana is genuinely one of the sweetest people I’ve ever photographed. By the end of the session, it felt like we had known each other much longer than a single evening!

The connection we built made the photographs feel effortless. Their goal wasn’t simply to document the pregnancy—it was to capture the love they already share with one another and with the baby they’re waiting to meet.

We chose a natural park for this outdoor session and golden hour did not disappoint. This park offers rolling golden hills, a peaceful lake, gorgeous sunset views, wide-open landscapes and so much variety in one location.

One of my favorite features was when I used pieces of golden wheat to cast soft shadows across Tiana’s belly. The light filtering through the wheat created delicate patterns that made the images feel intimate and almost painterly. It’s one of the most unique maternity portraits I’ve created.

Tiana wore one of my client closet maternity dresses (a Reclamation two-piece) in this deep burgundy shade. It complimented her glowing skin and looked gorgeous against the warm golden grasses.

One of my favorite parts of the session happened on the dock.

I asked them to remove their shoes, sit on the edge together, and let their feet dangle into the lake. They laughed, kicked the water, talked to each other, and completely forgot the camera was there.

Those photographs feel incredibly authentic.

Another favorite moment came while they danced together in the open field. Instead of posing, they simply moved together naturally, creating genuine smiles and beautiful movement.

This maternity session is only the beginning.

I’m photographing their Fresh 48 session after the baby arrives and their newborn lifestyle session.
